Not grown by us. Seed purchased wholesale and excess to our needs. This is a new variety to Australia (first imported Nov 2025) so this is our first season growing it.

Description:

  • Fast and easy to grow annual.

  • Mixed shades of yellow, red, orange, and pink with uniquely curled petals.

  • Mature plants are heat and drought tolerant, and thrive in low-nutrient soils.

  • Cut deeply and deadhead regularly for multiple flushes.

  • Will self-seed if left to go to seed at the end of the season.

Seed count: 50+

Site: Full sun

Height: 60-90cm

Sowing method: Direct sow or raise seedlings in Spring. Cold stratification prior to sowing may help germination. Can withstand very cool temps but protect from frosts. Can be overwintered in mild winter areas.
(NOTE: You can sow in early-Summer but stems may be shorter due to stress if temps are high. You can also try for an Autumn flush by sowing in late-Summer but stems will be shorter as Coreopsis is day length sensitive).

Sowing depth: 0mm (light required for germination).

Spacing: 15-25cm for cut flower production.

Days to germination: 14-28 days @ approx. 20-25 degrees.

Days to maturity: approx. 70 days

Support: Not required but you could net or corral with twine. Similar growth habit to Cosmos.

Day length sensitive: Long-day plants - need the long days of spring and summer to perform at their best. (Stems will be shorter and plants will be less productive when days are shorter).

Pinching: Not necessary but beneficial for early side branch development.

Yield: 4-7 stems per plant.

Successions: Two is recommended for blooms from late Spring to end of Summer.

Vase life: 5-7 days. Similar to Cosmos in that some blooms will fade but others will continue to open.

Harvest stage: Harvest when buds just begin to open. Additional buds on the stem will continue to open in the vase. Cut deeply and regularly for multiple flushes. Do not allow plants to set seed or they will shut down prematurely.
